How should I design my artist website?
Your website should mimic the paradigm for how art is actually sold in the real world—in galleries and museums. No matter what country, continent, language, or culture, galleries look the same: minimalist, monochromatic walls, art on the wall, light on the art, and little else. Maybe a placard with information. Where most artists get it wrong is creating websites with too many colors, fonts, slideshows, and things moving around. If anyone actually sees the art through all that clutter, it’s a modern-day miracle. Your website should be minimalist with just the art on it, good lighting on the art, prices listed, some visualization tools, and nothing else. The experience should mimic an art gallery.
