What is the complete strategic approach to building a successful art business today?
A well-balanced strategic approach has several components working together. First, sell art in-person, face-to-face as much as you can—this is still the single best way to sell. Second, have your website to back up and assist those efforts at all times. Third, constantly run live video sessions (one-to-one or one-to-many) as a new front for selling art—this is the hybrid between in-person and website sales. Do all three while continuously building your own attention and audience. If you can also get any traditional revenue sources like galleries or shows to pay, squeeze them as hard as you can, but never at the expense of the channels where you set the rules and own the relationship. This structure—in-person selling, website presence, video sessions, and building owned attention—is how you build a real art business. These are the only channels where you control everything and aren’t dependent on third parties.
