What are order bumps and post-purchase offers, and how can I use them to increase sales?
These are pre-purchase and post-purchase techniques to increase your average order value, similar to what happens in retail stores. Pre-purchase order bumps appear after someone adds an item to cart but before checkout—a pop-up might say ‘This would go great with your print: add these coasters for $39.99?’ Post-purchase offers appear after the transaction completes, on the order confirmation page, suggesting additional items while you still have the customer’s attention. Phone cases work exceptionally well in both scenarios. Someone buying a large print might be offered a matching phone case either before completing checkout or immediately after. Even a small addition significantly boosts your average order value across all transactions.
