Why doesn't posting only artwork perform well on social media?

Running the ‘art gatling gun’—constantly posting art, art, art, buy my art—is like having a conversation where you only talk about yourself and push sales. You would never do this at a gallery opening in real life. Social media is meant to be a conversation. Your art is the commercial, and nobody watches a channel that shows only commercials 24/7. You need programming—show who you are as a person, where you’re from, what makes you tick, your interests beyond art. Human beings make purchasing decisions based on knowing, liking, and trusting you. If people don’t know who you are as a human, they can’t build that connection.
