What's the advantage of being a locally-focused artist versus traveling everywhere?

Focusing on a specific geographic region provides enormous advantages over being a generalist who photographs everywhere. When you deeply know and consistently photograph one area, you become the recognized expert for that location. This creates a clear audience: people who live in, visit, or have emotional connections to that region. Local following and customer base built around a common place is far more valuable than scattered followers from random locations. You can build relationships with local businesses, participate in community events, and become known as ‘the’ photographer for that area. People moving into the region or longtime residents wanting to decorate with local imagery will naturally find you. This geographic focus also makes your marketing much more efficient and your brand much clearer.
