How do I balance online and in-person sales in my art business?
Aim for a balanced approach where both channels support each other. A 50/50 split between online and in-person sales is healthy and sustainable. Your website works 24/7, takes transactions, moves people closer to sales, and reaches customers you can’t meet in person. But in-person selling at art fairs and shows remains the best way to sell art because people can truly appreciate the work and connect with you personally. These channels reinforce each other: someone might buy a small piece online, then drive hours to meet you at a show and purchase a major work. Or they see a piece at a fair, go to your website, and complete the purchase there. As your email list grows over time, the balance will naturally shift more toward online sales, but both remain important.
