Why do most artists fail at social media marketing?
Most artists treat social media like an art machine gun—they just post art, art, art, art constantly. Think about it this way: if you were having a gallery opening and someone walked in, would you just shove your art in their face repeatedly? No, you’d have a conversation. You’d talk about where you’re from, your inspiration, your life. Social media is meant to be a conversation, not a commercial channel. Your art posts are the commercials—you need programming too. The programming is who you are: where you grew up, whether you’re married, have kids, what you do on weekends, your creative journey, your vulnerabilities, your humor. Nobody watches a TV channel that’s just commercials. People want the programming, and your art gets shown between the programming.
