When I'm in a gallery showing my originals, should I keep those pieces on my website for sale, or remove them?

This depends entirely on your agreement with the gallery. Most galleries will want exclusivity on the pieces they’re showing—they’ll ask you to remove them from your website and not promote them for sale elsewhere unless it’s just a showcase (not for purchase). Have an upfront conversation with the gallery owner to clarify the terms. Ask: ‘If I sell one of these pieces myself, are you okay with that? Will I need to replace it? Do you get a portion of the sale?’ Transparency prevents awkward situations. If the gallery allows you to sell the pieces yourself, you can promote them, but include a disclaimer: ‘Please contact me first, as this piece is displayed in a gallery and may already be sold.’ Always communicate with the gallery before finalizing any sale.
