How should I price my artwork? Are formulas like price-per-square-inch reliable?

Pricing formulas like dollars-per-square-inch are complete nonsense. Ultimately, the only real formula is: how much is someone willing to pay for it? That’s it. Pricing depends on the market, the story behind the work, and the emotional connection it creates, not on mathematical formulas.
