What are realistic alternatives to selling direct if I don't want to market online?
The main alternative to owning your own online presence is becoming a road-show fair warrior—doing 15-20 fairs per year, buying booth space, paying fees, setting up, being on your feet all weekend, then packing up and going home. Very few artists make it successfully in a pure gallery representation model where the gallery handles everything—less than half a percent make anything approaching six figures that way. Even galleries now prefer artists who already have large social followings, websites, and email lists because they don’t want to do all the marketing themselves.
