I don't like social media. What else can I do to get attention for my art?
The reality is that your ‘comedy club’—where your audience gathers—is the six-to-eight-inch screen people have in their hands all day. Comedians go where the audience is: clubs, bars, bowling alleys. Your audience, when not at in-person events, lives on their phones. You may not like it, but to get your story and work in front of people, you need to reach them where they spend their attention. Social media isn’t about treating your feed as a gallery wall; it’s an open mic night for testing new material. The comedy club doesn’t exist in a physical building anymore—it’s wherever attention lives. You don’t have to love it, but you do need to fish where the fish are if you want to build an audience and grow your business.
