How often do I need to market my art? I keep starting and stopping because I get burned out.

Consistency is absolutely critical. Think of it this way: if you owned a physical gallery, would you open the doors Monday, then put up a sign saying ‘Sorry, artist burnt out, closed for six months’ and disappear? Of course not. You’d open every day the gallery is supposed to be open, even when tired, because that’s how you stay in business. Your marketing consistency is the same thing—it’s keeping your gallery doors open. You can’t go dark for weeks, months, or a year and expect anything to change. Art businesses that stay in the hobby zone do so because of inconsistent marketing. Art businesses that grow year over year market consistently. Given that you’ll be doing this for the next 20, 30, 40, 50+ years of your life, you must start doing the difficult things now. Learning to market, maintaining your website, capturing emails, sending those emails, posting regularly—these aren’t optional. Everything you do online must mimic what works offline, and no physical gallery could keep its doors closed for extended periods and survive.
