Do I need to photograph expensive products to paint them, or are there workarounds?
You don’t necessarily need to purchase expensive items to paint them—you can find creative workarounds. For extremely high-end products (like wine bottles that cost thousands of dollars), you can often buy empty bottles on sites like eBay for a fraction of the price. Set up still life compositions with those empties, photograph them from multiple angles, and use those reference photos for your paintings. Take enough photos at different angles so you have complete reference material. This lets you paint premium subjects without the premium expense.
