What's the number one thing an aspiring professional artist needs to know or do?

You need to validate that people will buy your art, and then you need to start selling and marketing it - today. Everything else doesn’t matter until you do this. Nothing else matters. You’re wasting your time on anything else. Get out there with your work, go live on social media, and actually attempt to sell a piece. This is your next critical step, and you should do it immediately, not someday when conditions are perfect.
