Why is the fourth quarter (October-December) so important for art sales?

The last three months of the year are absolutely critical—more sells in Q4 than sometimes all other months combined. This isn’t random; it’s the Western world we live in. All the holiday advertising, the buying season, the gift-giving mindset means the straps come off purses and wallets just a little bit easier. Credit cards come out more readily. However, being successful in Q4 doesn’t come from waking up after Thanksgiving and sending one email. You have to let people know you exist beforehand, preview that you’ll have holiday specials, build anticipation. The data is conclusive: things perform dramatically better October through December, and it continues into January as people keep shopping post-Christmas. If you’re going to do anything, do it now—don’t wait. You owe it to your creations to position yourself properly for this crucial selling window. The preparation you do in August and September directly determines your Q4 results.
