What's the relationship between having a product problem versus a marketing problem in an art business?

Everyone who struggles with sales has either a product problem, a marketing problem, or both. If you have a good product but aren’t selling enough, you need outbound marketing—you need eyeballs actually getting on your art through consistent promotion. But if you’re getting eyeballs on your art and it’s still not selling at the level you want (or not at all), then you have a product problem. Your art needs to be more marketable. You can have the best marketing strategy in the world executed by the best marketer who ever lived, but if the product isn’t marketable, you’ll still have zero sales. Great marketing can’t sell a bad product, and great marketing can’t turn a decent product into a multi-million dollar business by itself. You need both: a marketable product AND great marketing. That combination is where the magic happens.
