What's the long-term perspective I should have as a creative building a business?

Creatives are fundamentally different from most people. While most people work a career and then retire to never touch that work again, creatives will never stop creating—you’ll create until your body physically doesn’t allow it. This desire to create, to have your work seen, to get feedback, and for many to sell your work, will never leave you. You likely have 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, or even 70+ years left as a creator. With advances in personalized healthcare, someone listening might even live to 150 or 160. This profound time horizon changes everything. It makes getting the business basics right as young as possible critically important, because you have so much time for momentum to compound. It also means you should stop obsessing over immediate returns or how quickly you’ll make $10,000 a month. That ‘what’s in it for me immediately’ mentality is cancerous. You’re playing the long game whether you realize it or not, so build your business with that perspective.
