What size and price point should I focus on for original paintings?

Paint big, ambitious things. People who buy original art often live in million-dollar homes with $20,000 couches—they don’t want a $1,000 piece. They want large, 6- to 7-foot canvases in the $5,000 to $20,000 range. They’re buying art they know took serious time and skill, something they absolutely can’t do themselves. One wealthy collector said he looks for pieces where he can see 100 hours of work. Go big and price accordingly.
