How should I use social media as an artist?

Be human and have conversations—that’s it. Your social media should not be a catalog of finished work with no artist in sight, no story, and no human element. Walk into a real gallery opening and you see the artist, conversations, wine, cheese, other collectors, and the gallerist working the room. Your social feed must replicate that: show yourself in the studio, your process, your hands, your dog, morning coffee with work on the easel, half-finished pieces, new supplies, your reference photos. Mix the art with the human. Reply to comments like you’d reply to someone standing in front of you. Write captions and messages like letters to friends. Don’t broadcast—converse. The art is the reason people stop scrolling, but the human and the story are why they come back.
