Can you give a practical example of how to move attention from email to social media?
Here’s a simple example: Say you’re a photographer who just returned from a trip to Mexico and you’re sending an email to your list with your best photos from the trip. A normal email might just say ‘Here are my best photos from Christmas in Mexico. Hope you had a wonderful holiday. Cheers, Catherine.’ To move attention to Instagram, you’d send the same email but add a P.S. at the end: ‘P.S., to see some of the behind-the-scenes photos from the trip and one amazing photo of the whale shark, follow me on Instagram’ and include a link to your Instagram profile. That’s it. You’re deliberately attempting to move your email subscribers onto your Instagram account. Even if you only get 3-5 or 7-10 new Instagram followers from one email, that’s a huge win when you do it consistently throughout the year.
