How much marketing work is actually required to run an effective art marketing strategy?

A comprehensive art marketing strategy that includes everything you should be doing—social media posting, email campaigns, promoting your full catalog, taking advantage of major art-selling holidays like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and others—represents about 100 hours of work per month. This includes not just the execution but staying current on which tactics are working, what subject lines get opens versus landing in spam, which social media formats drive engagement, and all the strategy behind the tactics. For a typical two or three week campaign around a major holiday, you might need to send seven emails and create around 20 social media posts, all strategically timed and coordinated. This is why it’s unrealistic to expect individual artists to do all of this themselves while also creating art.
