Do online art marketplaces work for selling art?

No, marketplaces generally don’t work for the vast majority of artists. Whether it’s Redbubble, Society6, Saatchi, Etsy, or Fine Art America—none of these work in any significant percentage for most people. There’s a tiny sliver that does decent on those sites, and everyone else gets onesie-twosie sales at best. These are not reliable paths to building a sustainable art business.
