What price range should I offer to build a successful art business?

You must have a range of pricing spanning from low to high. Look at successful artists like Wyland (marine artist) or Gray Malin (aerial photographer) - their prices range from $25-$50 on the low end all the way to $67,000-$400,000 on the high end. You need products in the $0-100 range, the $100-1,000 range, and well above $1,000. Here’s why: there are only three ways to grow a creative business. First, acquire new customers (what everyone focuses on). Second, get existing customers to buy again. Third, increase your average order value. The most important metric for future revenue potential is how many new customers you acquire per year. When you only offer higher-priced originals starting at $150-300, there’s friction - people need to consult partners, consider wall space, think about it. But when you have lower-priced items in your lineup, people who love your creativity but aren’t in the market for wall art right now can still purchase something to support you. It doesn’t matter if someone’s first purchase is $3 or $3,000 - you’ve acquired a customer and can now market to them. A range of pricing, enabled by print-on-demand and merchandise, lets you acquire the maximum number of new customers per year, which is the foundation for long-term business growth.
