How important is the story behind my artwork for sales?
The story is everything. Art sales are not a meritocracy based purely on quality. Van Gogh’s entire collection sat unsold in a Paris salon until his letters—the stories behind each piece—were published. Once people had the emotional connection through those stories, the work became invaluable. If you can tell the story well, you create emotional value that drives sales far more than technical quality alone.
