How important is practice and repetition for getting good at live shows?

Repetition is absolutely critical. The presenters had done 475 live sessions since the pandemic started. That’s how you get good—through reps and sets, just like any skill. Traditional art show organizers who are trying virtual events for the first time are falling flat because they haven’t put in the practice. You need to get comfortable with the format, learn what works, and develop fluidity. The mental model shift happens through doing it repeatedly. Don’t wait for perfection—get in the water and start accumulating those reps. Each session teaches you something and makes the next one easier. By the time Q4 arrives, you want these skills to be second nature.
