What is a Facebook pixel and why is it so important?

The Facebook pixel is a line of code you place on your website that recognizes visitors and matches them to their Facebook profiles. This allows you to place these visitors into an audience ‘bucket’ so you can show ads to them later. It’s critically important because it means when someone visits your site, looks at your work, and leaves without buying, you haven’t lost them — you can continue showing them ads over the next 30-60 days. Without the pixel, visitors who don’t buy immediately are gone forever. The pixel is step one of being properly set up for Facebook advertising. Start a free Facebook Ads account, install the pixel, and let that audience build over time, even before you’re ready to run ads. The audience takes time to grow to a meaningful size, so there’s no time to waste in getting it installed.
