My art isn't selling offline—should I expect it to sell online?

No. If your art or photography is not selling offline, thinking you’re going to go online and it will work is a recipe for failure. You must get your art into the marketplace and validated first—meaning make sales to people who are not related to you or your best friends. Ensure people are willing to part with their hard-earned money for your work before you invest significant time and effort into building and marketing an online presence. There’s no skipping this validation step. If your work doesn’t pass this test, it doesn’t mean you have no talent; it means the market doesn’t like what you’re currently producing, so you need to pivot to a different style or subject matter.
