Why do people say only a small portion of my audience sees my posts and emails?

Your audience lives in what’s like a vast ocean, not a small pond. At any given moment, most of your followers and subscribers are busy with their daily lives - watching kids, making dinner, working, watching entertainment, dealing with their own concerns. They’re not constantly checking for your content. Even if someone follows you or is on your email list, they might be ‘deep underwater’ or ‘miles away from your boat’ at the moment you post or send. Social media algorithms also don’t show your posts to everyone. Email inboxes are crowded. The fundamental reality is that attention is scattered and limited, so any single piece of marketing reaches only a small fraction of your total audience.
