What's the point of doing Instagram lives if I only get 4-5 viewers when my reels get much more reach?
The problem isn’t the live format—the problem is audience size and engagement. Lives serve a different purpose than reels: they enable real-time Q&A, ‘ask me anything’ sessions, and direct engagement that isn’t possible with pre-recorded content. When you repost a 21-minute live as a reel, it won’t get the same reach as a 1-3 minute reel because the algorithm doesn’t push long-form content as aggressively. Don’t stop doing lives just because the numbers are small—those 4-5 viewers are engaged and find value in that format. Instead, focus on growing your overall audience with more engaged followers who will show up for lives. The live format is beneficial to your current engaged audience; the solution is to grow that engaged audience, not to abandon the format.
