What are the two major markets I can participate in as an artist, and why does that matter?
The first market is the art market—the traditional market for wall art and original pieces. The second is the gifting market, which is enormous (worth hundreds of billions globally). When you offer merchandise and non-wall-art items, you participate in both markets simultaneously. Gifting-related purchases happen year-round, especially around holidays like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Christmas. By playing in both markets, you dramatically expand your opportunity and reach buyers who might not be ready for a major wall-art purchase but are happy to buy a gift or impulse item.
