Should I focus on making work that can be reproduced and sold multiple times, or focus on one-of-a-kind originals?

Be very intentional about creating work that is both valuable as an original sale and reproducible for ongoing revenue. The goal is to make something once and sell it many times through prints and reproductions. This doesn’t mean you can’t do original commissions, but be strategic about it. Price one-of-a-kind work (like custom pet portraits) significantly higher since you can’t reproduce it. Prioritize projects where the work can become ‘a billboard forever’—like pieces for permanent installation that you can then reproduce and sell. This approach maximizes the return on your creative time investment.
