Do artists actually lack marketing ability, or is something else the issue?

Artists aren’t bad at marketing—they’re often untrained and inconsistent. Many artists are excellent visual storytellers with compelling narratives behind their work. The real barriers are: (1) never having been taught how to market, (2) fear or discomfort with self-promotion, and (3) inconsistency. Once artists learn the basics, practice, and commit to showing up regularly, they often become quite good at it. The key is getting from zero to one—building momentum, learning what works, and not quitting. Consistent marketing over months and years almost guarantees business growth.
