What should my artist website look like?
Your website should mimic a physical art gallery: minimalist, with art on a monochromatic wall (usually white), clear breathing room, no distractions, and no clutter. Avoid treating your site like a blank canvas for your creative ideas—colors, animations, music, goofy backgrounds, and competing design elements violate the established paradigm of how art is viewed and purchased. Walk into any real gallery worldwide and you’ll see the same setup: wood floors, white walls, well-lit and framed pieces, price cards, and a clear path to purchase. Your website must replicate that experience. If a visitor doesn’t feel the same way on your site as they do standing in a gallery, you have work to do.
