What assumptions should I avoid making about potential art buyers?

Never assume buyers know anything about your products or the art world. They don’t understand different print mediums, whether prints need framing, what gallery wrap means, how long prints last, what materials you use, hanging options, or care instructions. Assuming knowledge is a form of arrogance that costs sales. Instead, explain and show everything clearly: photograph all angles, describe materials and processes, demonstrate scale, show framing options, and make the buying decision as easy as possible. Treat every visitor as if they’re encountering art buying for the first time, because for many, they are.
