I don't have an email list yet and don't know where to start. How do I begin building one?
Start by building your list one email at a time - everyone starts with zero and builds from there. For online, you need a website with a way to capture emails through a popup or prominent signup form. Offer an incentive like entering to win a free print, which works for all levels of traffic (cold, warm, and hot). If you don’t sell prints, offer a calendar, coaster, or other small item. Make the signup prominent on your homepage, not buried in your footer or about page. For offline, use the fishbowl technique at art shows and fairs - put out a fishbowl or clipboard with an incentive for people to leave their business card or email address. The key is consistency: gather emails one at a time through these methods and build steadily over time.
