I only sell originals priced from $500 to $3,000. What pricing structure should I consider?
Your business would benefit enormously from opening the aperture on pricing. Create a full pricing ladder: $0-$100 range (small prints and non-wall art like greeting cards, coasters, magnets, items people can buy on a whim without measuring walls or consulting a partner); $100-$1,000 range (stepping up through various media types and sizes); $1,000+ range (limited edition prints, hand-signed and numbered); then your originals starting at $1,500 or higher. This creates a basis for comparison—when someone sees your $5,000 original, they understand why it costs that much because they can see the entire ladder. Without this context, people have no frame of reference and may offer inappropriately low amounts. More importantly, this structure dramatically increases the number of new customers you acquire per year. Instead of selling 30 pieces, you might sell 300, giving you 300 people to market to in subsequent years rather than 30.
