How do online art sales relate to running in-person art shows?

The cycle is exactly the same - it’s sale to sale to sale, with marketing in between. Running online sales mimics the art show circuit perfectly. With in-person shows, you book your hotel, load the car, prepare your booth, get your materials ready, drive to the show, have your big sale weekend, then return to normal marketing until the next show. Online is identical: you do your regular marketing between sales, then go into sale mode, execute the sale, and return to regular marketing. The mechanics are the same - preparation, execution, follow-up, repeat. Understanding this parallel helps you see that online selling isn’t fundamentally different; it’s just the digital version of what you already know works offline.
