What's a realistic timeline for building a successful art business?

It takes three to five years to really get things humming in most businesses, and it often takes even longer in art and photography niches. Don’t expect overnight success or hockey stick growth. Real success comes from slow, incremental growth year over year. If you’re in years one through three, you’re still in the foundation-building phase. Momentum is real, but it builds gradually. Typically, year five to seven is when things really start hitting their stride for artists who stay consistent.
