Why should I be more proactive on social media instead of just waiting for people to comment?

On social media, most artists sit around waiting for conversations to come to them—people leave comments and they respond. But that’s passive. In the real world, if someone stops at your booth and shows interest, you don’t just sit there with metaphorical duct tape over your mouth waiting for them to speak first. You take the initiative and start a conversation. Apply the same principle to social media: when people interact with your posts by liking or commenting, don’t just wait—reach out and start a conversation with them directly.
