Why isn't social media working for me when I post my art regularly?

Posting only your art is like running an ‘art Gatling gun’—art, art, art, buy my art, sale on art. This never works because you wouldn’t behave this way in person. If you met someone at a gallery opening, you’d have a normal conversation, get to know each other, and build a connection before any sales discussion. Social media is meant to be a conversation. People make purchasing decisions based on knowing, liking, and trusting you—finding you interesting, relatable, or having something in common with you. When you only post art, people learn nothing about who you are. Share your story: where you’re from, your creative journey, your life, your interests. Mix in your art as ‘commercials’ within the ‘programming’ of your authentic life. No one watches a channel that only plays commercials.
