What's the most important thing to understand about marketing my art?
Consistency is everything. If you owned a physical gallery, you would never put a sign on the door saying ‘Closed for 3 months—artist burnt out’ or ‘Only open Mondays 9-9:30am.’ You’d show up every day, even when you’re tired, even when life happens, because that could be the day your customer comes in. The same applies to online marketing. You can’t disappear for months at a time and expect to build a business. Everything online should mimic what works in the offline, analog world. Keep your marketing consistent year after year—some years will be better than others, life will happen, but you can’t turn the lights off for months at a time.
