What is the biggest trap that prevents artists from succeeding in their business?
The biggest trap is having unrealistic time horizons for business growth. Many artists believe that because their art is good, they’re due immediate results. They market for a short period, don’t see the results they expect, and quit trying to grow the business. The reality is that nothing of significant value is built in less than three to five years of consistent, hard work. Successful artists have typically been grinding for five to ten years or more. The trap is expecting it to be easy and quick, when the truth is it requires years of suffering through poor results before the business starts taking off.
