What does 'keeping the gallery doors open' mean for my marketing?

Keeping the gallery doors open means being consistently present in your marketing—on your website, social media, and email. A physical gallery that’s closed on a Wednesday loses every Wednesday walk-in; a gallery closed for three months loses an entire selling season. The same is true online: when you go dark or post inconsistently, you close your doors to serendipity—the random visitor who stumbles on your work, loves it, and comes back to buy. You don’t need perfection, but you can’t go completely silent for long stretches. Consistency, even at your measure best, is what allows walk-ins (both online and offline) to happen. The doors must stay open as much as you can manage, because every collector under 50 starts their search on a screen.
