I'm a glass artist who sells original one-of-a-kind pieces. How can print-on-demand help me?

Even though your actual glass pieces are originals, you can photograph them and create prints, which opens entirely new possibilities you may not have considered. You can then create bundled packages—like three small prints for a bathroom along with a glass piece for that same bathroom. This lets you hit completely different price points and create new product categories. The fundamental rules apply to you too: it’s still about the number of new customers acquired per year and how many return to purchase again. When you’re doing one-off handmade glass pieces, you need to either expand the aperture by adding more accessible price points, or charge premium prices ($100,000+), which takes time to reach. Lower-priced print items enable impulse purchases and give you that crucial customer acquisition, getting your art as a beachhead into people’s homes. Then when they’re ready for a major glass piece, you’re top of mind. You can also create coffee table books featuring your glass work, which can drive sales of both prints and originals—these products accelerate each other.
