My posts get very few comments despite having over 3,000 followers. How do I improve engagement?

The issue is engagement, not follower count. You need to actively work on building genuine connections. First, implement the ‘before and after 1,000 followers’ strategy: every day, follow 10 people who have shown interest in subjects related to your work. Search for hashtags relevant to your photography (like #baldeagle if you photograph eagles), find the top posts with the most engagement, and follow people who are commenting on those posts. This takes less than 2 minutes per day. Second, when new people follow you, send them a direct message—but don’t just say ‘thank you for following.’ Engage them by asking how they found your profile, what photo they liked most, or what interests them about your work. You need to have conversations on social media, not just broadcast content. Focus on intentional connection with people who have demonstrated interest in your subject matter.
