Should I pull my work from a gallery if I don't think they're charging enough?
If your gut tells you the gallery isn’t charging enough and you’d rather sell the work yourself, listen to that instinct. Galleries take 50% commission, so they need to be working very hard to earn that. More importantly, when galleries sell your work, you don’t retain the customer relationship—they do. You want to own your collectors and build direct relationships with them. If the arrangement doesn’t feel right and you’re not getting adequate value, pull out and sell direct where you control pricing, relationships, and the full customer experience.
