How should I organize my contact list data for marketing purposes?
Create a spreadsheet with the following columns: first name, last name, address, city, state, zip, country, and email address. If you’re more advanced, also include Messenger ID numbers and the total dollar value of purchases each customer has made with you (no amount too big or small). Gather contacts from everywhere: your personal email inbox going back years, old show receipts, past clients from other businesses (like wedding photography clients if you’re now selling fine art), contest entries, friends, family, neighbors, and anyone who likes you and your work. Even if you don’t have email addresses for some contacts, include them anyway with whatever information you have—first name, last name, and physical address can still be valuable for matching to social media accounts. Add a column noting whether you’re comfortable emailing each person directly.
