What's the foundational paradigm for how art websites should be designed?

Your website should mimic the universal paradigm for how art is viewed and sold worldwide: an art gallery or museum. Think minimalist—art on the wall, well-lit, with small price descriptions, and nothing else. No goofy fonts, colors, slideshows, music, or excessive text. Artists often see a website as a blank canvas and want to add creative elements, but that’s a mistake. The art should be the focus. Visitors should be able to see the work clearly, just as they would walking into a physical gallery.
