How should I approach trying to make my first art sales?

Start by posting your work for sale in a straightforward way—on social media, a simple website, or wherever your audience is. Make it clear the work is available to purchase, include pricing, and provide an easy way to buy. Don’t overthink it or wait until everything is perfect. The goal at this stage is simply to test whether people will actually pay for your work. Track whether strangers (not family or friends) are willing to buy. If they do, you’ve validated your art and can move forward. If not, you need to either adjust your approach or reconsider whether there’s demand.
