What should I share when I do live painting demonstrations or process videos?
People are hungry for the artist experience—they want to understand what you were thinking and how you did what you did. When you demonstrate or share your process, explain your thought process, your techniques, and your decision-making. Show the contemplative moments, the stepping back to consider the work, not just the finished piece. Always include the finished painting at the end because people get frustrated if they don’t see the resolution. Listen carefully to the questions people ask in comments—these tell you what interests your audience and what they want to learn. The connection you build through this teaching is invaluable, even if you don’t monetize it directly. Consider these demonstrations as building relationships and trust with your audience.
